So it has now been a year since we arrived in Australia with a suitcase each and a new life to build.... new jobs to get into, apply for, new friends to make, new place to live, new church to find, new culture to adapt to, new climate to adapt to (we knew this one would not be hard to do!)...It was amazing how relaxed we were about the move really...it was just an opportunity that arrived in my inbox at precisely the right time that we could not pass up.
And so a year on and we have done all of these things and have enjoyed and are still enjoying the whole experience. It has been an excellent move for this part of our lives and we are making the most of it.
The experience has also enabled us to see lots more of the world we live in and its beauty. I think Australia does have more than its fair share of beauty!
We've made friends quickly and it has been good to be part of a church like Hillsong with a different way of doing things (on a much bigger scale!). It has allowed us to expand our thinking on how a church can be.
Esther's parents were here for two weeks over Easter. It was great to show them around Sydney so they could see all the places we go and what we do. We had an amazing trip to Tasmania (pictures to follow). We went walking in Cradle Mountain and saw wildlife actually in the wild! Echidnas, wombats, wallabies and possums were all running about. I saw a rare Tasmanian Devil wandering around where we were staying.
Term 2 has started for Esther and is a very busy one with reports and various school activities. She is busy but enjoying teaching.
My friend Geraint and his partner are coming to visit Sydney in a few weeks so we'll be tour guides for the weekend - which we enjoy. There is always something to do and see each time.
Having said all this, we still get homesick and miss all our friends and family. When are the rest of you coming to visit???!!!
