As soon as we arrived, we picked up our rental car and started travelling along the Great Ocean Road. It really is an amazing road with magnificent views of the coast. It was great to stop off wherever we liked to take in the views and go for walks. By the evening we had made it to a group of rock formations called the Twelve Apostles which sit out in the sea. There are now only a few left as most of them have collapsed through erosion. We decided to view them from the air and took a helicopter ride to see the fantastic coastline!
We stayed overnight nearby in Port Campbell. Unfortunately it was raining heavily on our second day so we headed back to Melbourne. By the time we got back to Melbourne it was dry enough to wander around the city for a few hours. Melbourne has a much more European feel than Sydney, with great shopping and little hidden streets. It reminded us of Manchester too with a great mix of victorian and modern buildings. We enjoyed a walk along the Yarra river, saw an exhibition celebrating 20 years of Pixar animation and went out for a lovely italian meal.
On our last day the sun was shining and we had a few hours shopping in one of the best places to shop in Australia. We went up the Melbourne Observation Tower to take in great views and of course, we had to visit Ramsey Street - famous home of Neighbours!!

Eifion, you are outside Harold Bishop's house! Could you hear the tuba playing?
Ramsay Street would be brilliant. It don't know if I could take the excitement if I went. A British institution, but in Australia - so it's like it's in a far away land that I could never get to, like Neverland. Crazy.
